Why Sinimbooks.com?
Welcome to our Bookstore. We pray that you will be edified by the content in our store. We carry Christian titles that are Chinese, Reformed and Christ-honoring. It may be that you were curious about why we gave the store the name we did. Interestingly, "Sinim" is a word that comes from the Bible in Isaiah 49:12:
Many of you are already familiar with our Web ministry Monergism.com, so perhaps it should not come as a surprise that we intend to carry over the same philosophy of ministry to our English and Chinese bookstores. We do not propose to create a Christian Walmart which carries every book under the sun. Instead, in this day and age of pluralistic spiritual confusion, sinimbooks.com was created to provide a more limited and discriminating selection of books to help filter out theological dross and provide books that hopefully better reflect historic biblical Christianity. This way you will not be required, like you are in many stores, to sift through mountains of book titles and feel helpless wondering about which one's are worth your time. Furthermore, while we are confessionally Reformed, it is entirely possible that you may run across some books that you may not agree with. But this is because, we believe, we can still learn a great deal from other traditions which are not our own. We should be willing to acknowledge our limitations in this way and always be reforming our thoughts in order to be more God-honoring & consistent with the Word of God. Our tradition has certainly made errors in judgment in the past and we can learn from these mistakes, take what is good and stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us as we wrestle through various issues. There indeed appears to be a silver thread of orthodoxy which runs through the many traditions which came through the Augustinian and Reformation lines of historic Christianity.
